If you play poker online you are contributing rake to the house. The house pays affiliates a percentage of this rake for signing you up. Most affiliates keep a very small portion leaving the majority for the player. Affiliates are able to do this because of low over head and a large player base. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions and answers about rakeback.
Why should I signup?
There are basically only two
ways to sign up at an online poker site. You can go straight to the
site thru a non rakeback affiliate link or the sites url directly, or
you can go thru a rakeback affiliate. There is no fee for rakeback,
there are no disadvatages what so ever. The only differnce is that when
you go thru a rakeback site, then the poker site itself is making less
on your play. In return for signing you up, the poker site pays the
affiliate the part of the rake that they are no longer keeping. In
return the rake back affiliate is paying you the majority of this
profit. So in the end, you can let the poker site keep it all or you
can get a piece back.
How do I get paid?
Some affiliates let the poker site pay you once a month but some let you cash out your rakeback when ever you want it. These are features that vary from affiliate that you will have to research yourself before signing up.
What is rake?
Rake is the cut that the house
takes out of pots played for real money. Normally there is a cap in a
pot, usually $3. If you are playing at a ten player table when the hand
is dealt, then you can just divide the rake taken by 10 to know what
part you contributed. This is the contributed method. There is also a
dealt method which means you recieve your percentage of every rake.
This is more popular with a tight player, but not signifigant enough to
dictate what poker site you play thru. You also receive your percentage
back for any tournament (single table thru multi table) you play on
most sites but not all. To get an idea of how much you are losing in
